Becoming the Photographer

For most of my life, my world was filled only with music. I was a classically trained musician with a deep love for sound, eventually stepping into the roles of being a DJ and music producer. Creating music taught me how to listen with intent, the meaning of precise timing, having balance in life, and expressing emotion—skills that, surprisingly, translate beautifully into the world of photography. I never expected to shift from mixing records and composing tracks to capturing homes and spaces, but here I am, completely hooked. The transition wasn’t overnight, but it’s been one of the most rewarding creative pivots I’ve ever made.

What started as a curiosity with cameras slowly turned into an obsession. I dove headfirst into learning about light, composition, editing techniques, and gear setups—especially the ones best suited for real estate photography. Along the way, I picked up specialized skills like creating immersive 3D virtual tours, which have become a big part of what I now offer. There's something exciting about walking into a property and knowing how to capture it in a way that really sells its story. Photography scratched the same creative itch that music always had, but this time with visuals instead of sound. I am still very much in love with music, but this new creative outlet has been an incredible change of pace and scenery for myself. 

Wanting to expand my services even more, I went through the process of becoming a licensed drone pilot. This was certainly the hardest part of developing my business so far, but that has seemingly made it the most rewarding! Passing the FAA Part 107 test opened up a whole new layer of opportunity—now I can legally and safely offer aerial photos and video for clients who want a unique edge in their listings. Drones let me capture properties from dynamic angles that just aren’t possible from the ground, and combining that with interior photography and virtual tours has turned this into a full-package business. It’s not just about pretty pictures—it’s about helping others make powerful first impressions. You can’t beat the feeling of joy that flying a drone brings either; it’s very reminiscent of being a child with a toy RC car again.
